Cancellation and refunds
How to cancel, what happens when you do, and when we give money back. Cancelling is self-service and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Subscriptions renew automatically#
Paid plans are billed in advance and renew automatically, monthly or annually, until you cancel. Org plans are billed per seat, so the amount can differ between periods as members join or leave your GitHub organisation.
How to cancel#
- Open your billing page.
- Choose to cancel your plan. This opens the Stripe customer portal.
- Confirm the cancellation there.
You keep everything your plan includes until the end of the period you have paid for. Nothing is cut off at the moment you cancel. You can also resubscribe at any time.
What happens to private ontologies#
They stay private. Ending a plan never publishes anything, and never deletes anything.
What stops is the paid service: locked ontologies no longer resolve for SHACL validation, imports, the manifest and shapes endpoints, or the API. That is the part you were paying for. You keep full access to view and export your own content for as long as your account exists, so you can always take it elsewhere, and resubscribing unlocks everything exactly as it was.
Refunds#
- A 14-day change of mind on your first payment. If you are unhappy within 14 days of subscribing for the first time, email us and we will refund it in full.
- Renewals are not usually refunded. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period already running. If a renewal caught you by surprise and you have not meaningfully used the service in that period, email us — we would rather sort it out than argue about it.
- If we materially reduce a paid plan, or the service is unusable for a sustained period through our fault, we will refund the unused part of the period you paid for.
- Seat changes on Org plans are handled by Stripe as prorated credits and charges against your next invoice, rather than as refunds.
Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, normally within five to ten business days depending on your bank.
Failed payments#
If a payment fails, Stripe retries it over a short period and emails you. If it keeps failing, the subscription ends and the plan reverts to Free, which locks private ontologies as described above — it does not publish them. Keeping your card details current on the billing page avoids the interruption.
Free plan#
The Free plan costs nothing, so there is nothing to cancel or refund. You can delete your content or stop using the service at any time.
